7-37. TEMPERATURE SENSORS
7-37
INPUT CODE: AUGTEM
a. DESCRIPTION
This module tests the ability of hand-held temperature probe, dayside test bench
temperature sensors, and nightside test bench temperature sensors to detect ambient
temperature to within acceptable limits.
The hand-held temperature probe may also
be tested at 32°F and 212°F.
The operator holds the probe near the equipment and presses [YES] on the
AN/USM-410 VDT (if the operator desires to skip the test, [NO] is pressed) and the
temperature indication is displayed in degrees C or degrees F.
If the indication is reasonable, the operator presses [YES] on the AN/USM-410
VDT and the probe passes test.
If the indication is not reasonable, the operator
presses [NO], the probe fails the test, and a prompt is displayed.
If the operator has boiling water available, and desires to test the probe at
high temperature, [YES] is pressed on the AN/USM-410 VDT. If boiling water is not
available, or the operator wishes to skip the test, [NO] is pressed.
The operator puts the probe into the boiling water and the indication is
displayed with an option to perform another test.
The indication is compared to
upper limit 105 and lower limit 95.
If not within the limits, a prompt is displayed.
If ice water is available, and the operator desires to test the probe at low
temperatures, [YES] is pressed on the AN/USM-410 VDT. If ice water is not
available, or the operator wishes to skip the test, [NO] is pressed.
The operator puts the probe into the ice water and the indication is displayed
with the option to perform another test.
The indication is compared with upper
limit +5 and lower limit -5.
If the indication is not within the limits, a prompt is displayed.
The dayside test bench temperature sensors 1 and 3 are checked for 17.0° to
29.O°C and recorded.
The two indications are compared for a difference of -2.5° to
+2.5°C.
The indications are displayed.
If the indications are not within limits, a prompt is displayed.
The optical signal analyzer (OSA) PMT temperature sensor is checked for upper
limit 15.0°C and lower limit 5.0°C.
If the indication is not within limits, a prompt is displayed.
